Bite-2-Go Child Sponsorship

Bethel is partnering with Second Harvest to help address food insecurity, which is a real problem in our community.  It’s not just overseas or out of sight.  It’s right here. The Bite-2-Go program sends home a weekend supply of meals for children whose families are struggling with poverty.

Participating in this program allows our church to invest and impact the lives of children who need a helping hand. Bethel is poised to make a difference by expanding our Bethel Assistance Ministry into caring for hungry children right here, through our Bite-2-Go partnership with Second Harvest.

This year Bethel will sponsor 120 weekly meals for children at Emerson Elementary in Pasco and Badger Mountain Elementary in Richland, totaling almost $22,000 dollars.

Anyone who has a heart for children in need and wants to help can easily contribute to this program. We might not eradicate all poverty, but we can make a difference for some of the most vulnerable in our community.

A business, church or organization adopts one or more schools

Teachers and counselors identify students in need

Volunteers pick up food kits from 2nd Harvest and deliver them to the school

Food is discreetly placed in backpacks of students in need

Each kit includes food items that are nutritious, easy-to-open, shelf stable, and don't require cooking beyond a microwave

Kids come to school on Monday ready to learn!

The program runs for 36 weeks

Support a child for $180 for the year:  a donation can be made for the full amount, for $15/mo., or 4x/$45, or give a one-time donation to assist 

All donations are made to the BETHEL ASSISTANCE MINISTRY, and then processed with 2nd Harvest

Pay online, or by check/cash in the offering box (mark your envelope Bite-2-Go); or mail a check to Bethel Church, 600 Shockley Rd., Richland WA 99352 (indicate the donation is for Bite-2-Go).
