ANCHORED DAILY: Ephesians Chapters 1-3

posted by Bethel Communications | Aug 3, 2022

Hey everyone, my name is Tristan Mailloux. I work for Bethel as the Video Manager. I have the opportunity today to share some of my thoughts and insights as we read Ephesians 1-3 together.

Ok so, I get discouraged sometimes. Recently and for several months, I’ve been feeling, off and on, pretty lethargic in my faith. On one hand, I am excited about my life, career, and relationships. I’m feeling optimistic about our Church, Bethel. But I’ve not been consistently feeling very energized toward God, my personal relationship with Him, or my time with Him. But what God revealed to me through preparing for this overview of Ephesians 1-3 was that I had lost sight of the big picture and the plan God has for me. This is the first thing I want to talk about and the main thing to remember is that…

God has a plan for you.

Let’s look at some verses in Ephesians 1 where the Apostle Paul talks about this. Verses 9-11 say

“God has now revealed to us his mysterious will regarding Christ—which is to fulfill his own good plan. And this is the plan: At the right time he will bring everything together under the authority of Christ—everything in heaven and on earth. Furthermore, because we are united with Christ, we have received an inheritance from God, for he chose us in advance, and he makes everything work out according to his plan.”

Paul goes on to further explain how God’s plan was to reveal himself through Jesus to the Jews and that shortly after, through Paul and others, the Gentiles would hear and receive the Gospel. So we have an inheritance from God and this is part of His plan.

If we skip to chapter 3 we see more of this Plan of God that Paul is talking about. This is at the end of Chapter 3. Verses 17-19 say

“Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.”

So that was the passage that helped bring me back into greater community with God. He has a plan for me, that when I trust Him I grow deeper into God’s love and my faith in Him becomes stronger. He is making me more complete. This is the process that we are all in and it is God’s love, patience, and faithfulness that take Gentiles like you and I and brings us fully into God’s family.

Thanks for listening. And just as God hasn’t given up on you, lean on Him and trust in His plan.
