Matthew Haslar Stepping In as West Pasco Interim Pastor

posted by Bethel Communications | Oct 23, 2022

As many of you know, we have had a vacancy for the campus pastor position at West Pasco. To help meet this need Matthew Haslar, our Adult Discipleship Director, has stepped into the position of interim campus pastor. An interim pastor is someone who gives a church strategic leadership during times of transition. In this case specifically, Matthew will become the primary teacher at the campus, step on to their elder board for strategic leadership and supervise the staff.  At the same time he will keep many of his same duties at the Richland campus where he oversees small groups, men’s ministry, and Rooted.

There are multiple reasons for this move. First, it gives the campus a leader until they are ready to make a hiring decision. Second, it helps West Pasco and Richland share the cost of an employee while giving fluctuates. Third, interim periods are always beneficial for helping churches find their identity and values apart from one specific leader.

To help Matthew accomplish this role the Adult Ministry Team has come up with a plan to share many of Matthew’s Richland duties. He will still have a hand in all of the areas he oversees but this restructuring will create margin in his time to pick up his duties in West Pasco.

If you have any questions feel free to contact Matthew (mhaslar@bethel.ch) or Adam Philips (aphilips@bethel.ch). We are excited to have Matthew on board to help guide our West Pasco campus during this next season!
