Text Specific Questions

  1. Summarize the disturbance that happens in this text. Did Demetrius have a legitimate concern?  Why or why not?

  2. The silversmiths invested all they had in making something that was ultimately false.  Have you ever invested your time in something that seemed worthwhile but later turned out to be completely worthless?

  3. Artemis was the major idol that the Ephesians worshiped.  What would you say are the main idols that people worship in our region today?

  4. Why did Paul want to go before the people (v. 30) and why would the disciples not let him? Was this the right thing for the disciples to do? Why or why not? 

  5. Has there ever been a time in your life when you were following what God wanted you to do but everything seemed to be going wrong?  How did you cope or stay encouraged?

  6. Who ended up quieting the crowd and dispersing the riot?  Whose side do you think he was on?  Why do you think God used that man instead of Paul?

  7. Do Christian ideas still cause riots today?  If so, how?  How should we respond if we find ourselves in the midst of one?
