Doing Life Together through Bible Study
by Trisha Weber
Those who cling to worthless idols turn away from God’s love for them. (Jonah 2:8)
Hi. My name is Trisha Weber. I am one of the leaders at Tuesday PM Bible study at Bethel. I am not just a leader, though. I am a participant! I really enjoy being involved in women's Bible study. It has been a vital part of my own personal journey with the Lord. Participating in Bible study over the years has enriched my life for the better.
How has it enriched my life? Let me tell you. The Lord has helped me get through many of my life's difficulties through His Word. The Bible has been my teacher, my friend and my guide. It convicts me, inspires me, gives me strength, encourages me, gives me hope, renews my mind, and fulfills my heart longings.
My husband and I moved here two years ago. We left our jobs, our home, our life, our family, our church, and our friends. After moving here, I soon realized that I also left my security, my sense of safety and my sense of comfort. I knew I needed to join a Bible study fast. It was my life line to get through adjusting to life here. And, it did! The Lord was showing me through this move that I was clinging to everything else but God Almighty. He alone is my security, He alone is my safety, and He alone is my comfort. I can cling to Him and His word!
I love how going to Bible study with other women has helped me to be more accountable in spending time in God's Word. To be among fellow women of God, makes life easier. I have prayer support. I hear new insights outside of myself that benefit my walk in the Lord. I have developed beautiful relationships with good sisters in Christ. I am developing a fuller, deeper, richer understanding of the Bible. To have a better understanding of the Bible is to have a better understanding of who God is and who I am in Christ.
Don't you want this, too? I know I cannot do without it! No matter where you are at in your journey toward the Lord, we all need Bible time. Are you missing out on something that only the Lord God and time in His Word can fill? Do you long for a deeper, fuller, richer understanding of our Lord Jesus Christ? Take a brave step this fall and register for one of our Bible studies at Bethel women.
You can join me on Tuesday evenings at 6:30pm in the Desert View room, starting September 17th. We’ll be diving into the study, "No Other Gods," by Kelly Minter.
Or, we have two other women’s Bible study options at Bethel.
Tuesday AM – Begins September 17th, 9:15-11:10am
Thursday – Begins September 19th, 10-11:30am
Let’s do life together through Bible study!
The Bible speaks to a broadness in God's justice, repeatedly calling His people to seek it for the marginalized and vulnerable. Throughout the Bible we are called to stand up for justice and equality, to love our neighbor and to protect the widows and orphans.
She met us after church with a gift bag and a hug. We weren’t the close-like-family kind of friends and there was no special celebration on the calendar. This was an unexpected gift at a time when our family was adjusting to a newborn foster placement.
We are a thirsty people. I look around and the people I see are striving, looking for more, often tired, wanting to both press on ...
One person praying alone is heard. When we pray with just one more person, we amplify the power of prayer, but not in the way we may think.
