In our search for a new senior pastor, we produced a video for potential candidates to watch that we hope will give them an accurate snapshot of who we are. This video shows the people of Bethel serving, ministering, and fellowshipping together, and includes messages from Rob Hobb (Bethel Elder Chairman) and Dave Bechtel (former Senior Pastor). Here is a transcript from the video:
Bethel is a growing, multi-campus church, with a mission to make disciples of Jesus. 3,000 individuals gather together each weekend at Bethel, spread over three cities at three campuses, in the Columbia basin of Eastern Washington. We unashamedly celebrate humble hearts, full engagement, and transforming depth as we lead our community to love God wholeheartedly, build relationships with other Christians, obediently follow Jesus, and influence the world.
Our local outreach team partners with 28 local agencies, while assisting 780 families with financial, social and spiritual support. Globally, we send 20 teams to 8 countries every year, with a focus on meeting felt needs. We’ve seen countless unreached families evangelized through our Upwards Sports ministry, which engages over 850 kids annually. And with over 60% of our congregation immersed in small groups, Bethel is a church committed to taking discipleship outside of Sunday mornings, and beyond the church walls.
For over 50 years God has used Bethel to advance the gospel in the Tri-cities and around the world; but we’re not stopping there. Over the past year we’ve seen a 23% increase in giving and 13% growth in attendance at our West Pasco campus, and we plan to build a permanent meeting site for this congregation soon.
Based on our extensive community network and internal resources, we believe the Lord has given us a tremendous opportunity to be a regional influence for Christ. We’re exploring new models of benevolence that we believe can change the face of poverty in the tri-cities.
We are blessed to be a truly multi-generational church. Over the last year we’ve seen God transform Bethel’s young adults into a growing group of mature disciple-makers, and we expect to see continued numerical growth as they engage the local community.
As we look for a new leader, we seek someone who is humble, with strong godly character; someone who is a visionary guide to shepherd our 90 staff members, and a gifted expository preacher that is authentic and relatable to an inter-generational congregation. Bethel’s next senior pastor needs to have a history of reproducing the work that God has done in their life into the lives of others.
Is this you? Is God leading you to serve our community in Washington’s Tri-cities and Columbia Basin? Will you prayerfully consider if God is calling you to be the next senior pastor at Bethel Church? We’re excited to see what God has next at Bethel, and we believe the best is yet to come.
