Exchange learning experience and project evaluation:
A one-month exchange internship in North Carolina, USA is fulfilling and enjoyable.
I spent almost all the holidays and nights with the Schneider family. Through the good interaction with the host family, I not only experienced the table etiquette and Christian culture of American families, but also learned about the trend of American art and history. I also met a lot of warm and hospitable American friends. Accordingly, I also brought them the Chinese style gifts I prepared carefully, let them understand the Chinese culture and customs, and more importantly, I also brought cheers to them. Joke. This atmosphere is harmonious and harmonious, so before I end this journey, I gave them a calligraphy piece I wrote-"Friends in the Sea, Closer to the World", which is exactly what I feel inside Portraiture.
Taking into account professional needs, the project I chose to participate in is the US Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) internship program, so every weekday I will go to USEPA (RTP) for internship. Here I would like to thank Mr.Guy, Mr.Ricky, Mrs.Jan arranges my homestay to pick me up and down daily to make travel easier. During the daily half-hour drive from the residence to USEPA (RTP), I also learned the traditional culture of different American families and the different attitudes of Americans on government management, environmental protection, and technological development through communication with local people responsible for transfers. This broadened my established understanding of my major and career development, and even made me re-examine my career plan and pave the way for USEPA internships. When it comes to my internship at USEPA (RTP), I think it is nervous and happy. The daily working hours are from 9 to 4 pm. I follow him and his postdoc Dr in Dr. Mark Strynar's laboratory. James McCord performed pretreatment of soil samples and LC-TOFMS (liquid chromatography-time of flight mass spectrometry) screening analysis of new PFCs (perfluoro compounds) in the samples and Orbitrap LC-MS (liquid chromatography-orbit ion trap mass spectrometry) ) Non-target screening analysis. These cutting-edge experimental analysis skills are helpful for my future study and research. I also thank all the experts from USEPA for their guidance and help. Life at USEPA (RTP) is not just about scientific research. I go to the lake for a walk with my lab colleagues every day at noon and participate in their group meetings every week. I really enjoy my internship at USEPA (RTP), and I even hope that the internship every day can be longer.
In addition, during the one-month project, I also went to two famous cities in the United States with teachers and classmates from other Passages projects. We visited many classic attractions and established a deep friendship with each other. Washington is elegant and quaint, and New York is lively and bustling. In contrast, I still prefer Washington's elegance and quaintness, where there are countless modern buildings and a plethora of museums. Unlike the busy and crowded New York City, lawns and ponds can be seen everywhere in Washington, and the entire city Gives a cozy and elegant feel. But when it comes to living environment, in my opinion, both classic cities may be slightly inferior to any city in North Carolina.
In general, I am very happy to participate in this project. The only suggestion is to hope that the time can be longer. This project has given me a good experience. Thanks to all the teachers and students who contributed to the successful completion of the project. With your host families, I will always remember the days I spent with you, and I hope to have the pleasure of meeting you in the future.
