Encourage One Another
by Kim Simon
And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another - and all the more as you see the day approaching. (Hebrews 10:24-25 NIV)
Hello, my name is Kim Simon. I am one of the newest participants and small group leaders at the Thursday AM Women’s Bible study group at Bethel Church. Although I have attended Bethel for many years, about a year ago I started feeling a need for more Bible study discipline. I also desired to develop deeper relationships with other women who are seeking to follow Christ. So, when someone personally invited me, I signed up for Thursday AM Bible Study.
My first morning, I immediately felt a sense of warmth and welcome as I entered the room. I sat down next to a woman I had never seen before and asked her what to expect. We both laughed when we discovered that it was her first day too. Terry and I have been making a point to greet each other every week since then.
One of the things I appreciate about Thursday AM Bible study is the relationships I’ve formed with the women in my small group. As we meet weekly to study God’s Word, we are also spurring each other on towards love and good deeds.
And, I love how the Lord surprises us! While attempting to understand a difficult concept during my personal study time, He instilled in me a desire to combine music with scripture and Biblical truths as a way to remember them. I was reticent to share my efforts at first, but decided to push ahead within the safety of my small group because I truly felt that the Holy Spirit gave me the desire, the music and the words. My group was so encouraging; they built up the gift that God had placed in me. And, at our brunch I helped lead our women as we sang our memory verse together.
When God asks us to do something we would never dream of doing on our own, the Thursday AM group is a place to exercise a new level of obedience through the support, encouragement, prayers and acceptance of fellow Christian women.
Winter quarter 2020 is a perfect time to join us as we unpack Priscilla Shirer’s Discerning the Voice of God. You may remember Priscilla from her role as young wife and mother Elizabeth Jordan in the movie The War Room. She is a gifted teacher and you won’t be disappointed! We’ll learn together how to walk in humble obedience to God, discerning His voice in everyday life. We’ll be meeting from 9:30am to 11:30am starting January 16th for video lessons and small group discussions.
Wherever you are in your spiritual journey, come and experience personal growth and the warmth of fellowship with other Christian women. I am inviting you, as someone once invited me to sign up today
If Thursday morning doesn’t fit your schedule, we have two other women’s Bible Study options starting this January. Click on the links below for more information on each of our Bible study options.
