You may remember this rhyme from your childhood: Here is the church, here is the steeple, open the door and see all the people. It’s memorable, but unfortunately, it’s wrong! It should go, “Here is the church building, here is the church building’s steeple, open the door and see the church!” Well, as you know by this time, if you open the doors at any of campuses, you will not find the church. The body of Christ has been scattered in homes throughout our entire area for nearly 3 months. Our time scattered as a body has been one of the most difficult seasons for many of us personally and I know the weariness of it all has taken its toll. If I’m being completely honest, emotions like fear, sadness, anger, disappointment, hurt, and confusion have been increasingly present in my life and I would guess in yours as well. We are desperate for good news…
Well, you may recall a verse that I shared with you just a few weeks ago about Paul’s eager desire to meet face-to-face with the believers in Thessalonica. We are designed to gather face-to-face and I’m excited to share with you that we are preparing to open our campuses for in-person, face-to-face gatherings starting Father’s Day weekend! These worship gatherings will be outdoors, under tents, with up to 100 attendees in each service. As you can imagine, with a church our size spread out across 3 campuses, this is no small feat. Our staff has been preparing for weeks and working tirelessly to ensure that we can gather once again. Next week we will direct you to a link where you can reserve your spot at one of our 10 weekend services. We are going to offer services on Saturday mornings and evenings at the Richland campus and then Sunday mornings at our Richland and Prosser campuses. So, what are these services going to look like? Well for starters, they are going to look a lot like this (Jason put on mask) But despite the goofy look that we’ve all become accustomed to, we are going to sing, laugh, study God’s Word, pray, and enjoy seeing each other face to face. Now I know there are some of you are thinking, “What if I’m not ready to regather?” or “How am I supposed to do that with my little kids?” or “I kind of like watching the service in my pajamas” Let me assure you that we will continue to stream our weekend services for the foreseeable future. As a matter of fact, if you have concerns about COVID-19, the safest, most socially distanced way to gather is at your home online.
I can’t tell you how excited I am for us to begin meeting again. It will not be what we are used to, but I thank God it will not be what we’ve experienced these last few months. Stay tuned for more details in the coming days regarding dates and times for services and how to reserve your spot at one of our weekend gatherings. These are unprecedented days and I want to remind us all that we serve a God that is unequal, unrivaled, unmatched in all His ways. His good intentions are to redeem these days and make His name great among His people. I hope you can join us as we lift high the name of Jesus face-to-face.
