Who is ready to be done with this quarantine thing? I know I am. You know it’s bad when you bump into someone at Home Depot and you think you know who they are after identifying only half of their face and they think they know who you are but about 2 mins into the conversation you both realize you have no idea who the other person is nevertheless that doesn’t stop you guys from talking for a half an hour. Yep true story!

We’ve got some great news if you haven’t already heard, starting this Saturday and Sunday we are going to be hosting services outside at Bethel church in Richland and Prosser. Wooohooo!

If you would like to see all the service times, go here.

No we didn’t forget you Pasco. For logistical reasons we are hosting the Pasco services here on the Richland campus.

So don’t be a stranger and make the jaunt across the bridge and let’s worship together.

Now, you may have figured out these gatherings aren’t going to be a free for all. And while we can’t go back to normal just yet, we can take at least one step closer.

So, what does that look like?

First you will need to RSVP every week for one of the services. You can do that by visiting that link I made mention of earlier, bethel.ch/outdoor-experience.

By reserving your spot you will help us in serving you better and respecting the state requirements of limiting our individual gatherings to 100 or less people.

Now we do ask that whatever time you sign up for, you stick to that time. There are a lot of logistics involved in coordinating these services.

By the way, your registration information will not be shared with any outside parties.

Secondly, you’ll need to bring a face mask for you and your family. Children under age 2 and adults with medical conditions do not need to wear a face mask. If you happen to forget yours, don’t worry we’ve got you covered with extras on hand. Many of us aren’t big fans of face masks, but we ask that while at the church you wear one as a way of protecting and loving your neighbor.

Also, if you can manage it, please bring your own chairs. This would be a huge help for the church in creating a save environment where there are less shared contact surfaces.

However, if you don’t have chairs, don’t let that stop you from coming. Again, we’ve got you covered. When you arrive, just let us know you need some chairs and we will make those available.

Another thing we have to watch out for is maintaining social distancing between households. That means we are going to have to keep a vigil eye on those kiddos.

What if I have to use the bathroom? Unfortunately all Bethel buildings will be closed but we have planted extra bushes around the campus for you to hide behind…. Just kidding

We are providing outdoor portable toilets with hand washing stations. There will also be a handicap accessible portable toilet at each campus as well.

You should know that in order to ensure everybody’s safety and minimize the possibility of participants getting sick, all areas will be sanitized before and after each service.

So when you see staff or volunteers doing their best to serve you in this regard, give them a “Thank You!”, I know they’ll appreciate it

While we are doing our best to take precautions to ensure your health and well-being there are a few things you can do as well.

First, if you are vulnerable, sick, or simply not comfortable coming back to church just yet, please do not feel pressure to join us. You can continue worshiping with us online at Bethel.ch/experience.

If you are chomping at the bit to get back into proximity with other humans, even if it is with 6ft of space, then here are a couple questions to run through before coming that are to the benefit of all:

Are you or someone in your family not feeling well or has a fever of 100.4 degrees or more?

Do you believe you may have been exposed to COVID-19 in the last two weeks?

If you answer yes to either of these questions then please join us online at Bethel.ch/experience until things get better.

Moving on!

What to expect when you arrive

Once you park, we will have ushers and greeters at each service to help you with any needs you might have and to help you find a spot where you and your family can enjoy the service. In your mind, it maybe be helpful to think about a wedding rather than a free for all. Someone will help you find your way to a space that is socially distanced from other parties.

Each service will have a live host to welcome you and get things kicked off and we will have digital bulletins available for download at the web address on the screen (bethel.ch/bulletin).

The worship and sermon itself, have been pre-recorded specific to our in-person gatherings. We would love to have a live worship team and live teacher for each one of our 10 in-person gatherings, but it’s simply not possible.

Unfortunately, we will not be offering any preschool or children’s ministry at this time. But…we are making an activity bag available for all children during the service. You can pick those up at the kids table.

Wow, that was a lot of stuff!

Here is the main thing we want you to get, we miss you guys and we are willing to weather any logistical nightmare based on state stipulations we need to, to be back in some form of face-to-face contact again. This is a great chance to demonstrate our collective love for God AND love for one another as we safely gather to worship.

Are you ready to take advantage of these opportunities? We certainly hope so!

Looking forward to seeing you there!

May the Lord bless and keep you.
